GUMA' Remetaw | House of the Seafarer

GUMA' Remetaw | House of the Seafarer is an annual literary journal aimed at highlighting the great work of the Marianas. Our goal is simple: promote the remarkable voices of our islands on the global stage through our sense of agency, cultural identity, and stewardship. We look forward to preserving this history and the arts across our archipelago throughout the vast Pacific.

Issue 1: Mesngun

Mesngun in Chamorro means "resilient, tolerant, persevering." We and our islands have been through so much in the past decade: super typhoons, changing landscape from climate change to economic insecurity—even a pandemic: this new "normal." In spite of all of these tempestuous events, we still stand resilient; hence our inaugural issue's theme.

Don't feel this serves as a means to limit submissions. Even if you think your work isn't related to this particular theme directly, we suggest you submit anyway; we may find a way to tie it into the journal or communicate a desire to publish it in the future. Thank you always for considering PROA Publications and GUMA' Remetaw to highlight your work!
